陰翳礼讃｜ヴェルサイユ宮殿
王が変わるたび、その権力を誇示するようにぬり替えられたディテールが絡み合い、層となっているヴェルサイユ宮殿。途方もない栄華の痕跡を丁寧に見つめることで浮かび上がるのは、それぞれの時代の空気だ。当時の最先端の技術の粋を結集した、想像を絶するデコラティブさに歓喜しながら、同時に、人の営みの愚かさにも思いを馳せる。一体、このエレガンスは、どこからやってくるのか？ 森田が写そうと試みているのは、自身のテーマでもある「欲望」であり、「本能」でもある。ヴェルサイユ宮殿ほど、その思いを受けとめるのに適した空間は存在しない。石の階段は、多くの人が歩いた記憶を留めるように、磨り減っている。
